Canterbury Business Recovery Trust
The Canterbury Business Recovery Trust Fund is a collective fund established and managed by Recover Canterbury to provide cash injections into strong but earthquake-affecteed businesses to ensure firstly their survival and subsequently their revival.
The Fund provides grants and interest free loans to eligible businesses to cover earthquake-related costs or costs related to the implementation of their business recovery plan.
The ultimate aim of the Trust Fund is to help Christchurch businesses bounce back, restore community sustainability through business recovery.
To date $5.4 million has been donated to the Trust Fund. This includes $2.5 million Government funding and donations from individuals and businesses around New Zealand. Since its inception the Canterbury Business Recovery Trust Fund has provided financial assistance to 255 businesses, with grants and loans donating more than $3.9 million.

Who can apply for funding from the Trust?
To be eligible for apply for funding from the Trust Fund businesses must:
- Be a registered commercial enterprise holding an IRD number
- Be Canterbury-based
- Be impacted by the earthquakes experienced in the region since September 4th 2010
- Be able to demonstrate that the funding has the potential to assist the entity to recover from the impact(s) of the earthquake
- Be able to show that no other efficient survival or recovery options are available
- Be willing to agree milestones and timelines for reassessment.
