Who We Are
Recover Canterbury
Recover Canterbury was established after the February 22 2011 earthquake to accelerate business recovery and prepare businesses for future growth.
Recover Canterbury (originally known as the Canterbury Business Recovery Group) brings together the expertise and resources of the South Island's two largest business support agencies, the Canterbury Development Corporation (CDC) and the Canterbury Employers' Chamber of Commerce (CECC), along with several government agencies involved in business support. Those government agencies include the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Social Development, ACC, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, the Department of Labour and Inland Revenue.
Recover Canterbury offers a wide range of services and resources to help businesses affected by the earthquake such as training, mentoring, referrals to professional services or accessing funding. For more information about Recover Canterbury's services click here.
Reporting to a board comprised of independent directors, Bruce Irvine and Trevor Burt, as well as the Chairmen of CDC and CECC, Garth Carnaby and Peter Davie, Recover Canterbury is led by the CEO of CDC and the CEO of CECC and is staffed by personnel from both organisations.
Any earthquake-affected business can ask for help from Recover Canterbury and the service is provided free-of-charge.
